2. Scope of This Policy
This Privacy Policy applies solely to your use of the Loaney mobile application for Android. It explains how information is handled when you interact with the app.
3. Local-First Architecture & Data Storage
Loaney is architected around on-device data sovereignty:
- On-Device SQLite/Room Database: Your financial records, debt logs, installment notes, bank account entries, and physical asset trackers are saved exclusively in a protected local database on your device.
- No Remote Profiling: We do not track your financial habits, analyze your loan balances, or build advertising profiles based on your debts or assets.
- Full User Control: You have absolute authority to add, modify, export, or permanently delete any entries at any time directly within the application.
4. Device Permissions We Request & Why
To provide core personal debt tracking features, Loaney may request the following device permissions:
- Read Contacts (
android.permission.READ_CONTACTS):
Purpose: Enables you to conveniently select names and phone numbers from your phone's contact book when logging a new loan or debt entry.
Privacy Guarantee: Contact information is only accessed upon your direct action and is never uploaded, synced to third parties, or used for unsolicited communication. - Post Notifications (
android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS):
Purpose: Schedules local alerts and push notifications for upcoming loan deadlines, payment due dates, and installment milestones.
Privacy Guarantee: Notification scheduling is handled entirely via Android's on-device WorkManager/AlarmManager without pinging external servers. - Storage / Media Access:
Purpose: Allows you to attach receipt photos, custom bank account cover graphics, or QR payment codes to your accounts.
Privacy Guarantee: Only media items you explicitly select through the system file picker are accessed.
5. Third-Party Services & Network Activity
Loaney is designed as an offline-first utility. The core ledger does not depend on remote cloud endpoints to operate.
If you optionally choose to sign in with Google or utilize optional cloud backup features (e.g. Firebase / Google Drive backup), authentication and data exchange occur directly between your device and Google's secure APIs subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
6. Data Retention & Deletion
- In-App Deletion: You can delete any loan, installment payment, contact metadata, or bank card entry at any time inside the app.
- Uninstalling the App: Uninstalling Loaney or clearing the application data from your Android device settings instantly and permanently removes all locally stored data from your device.
7. Children's Privacy
Loaney does not target or knowingly collect data from children under 13 (or under the applicable age of digital consent). Because the application stores data locally, we do not have access to or maintain user identification records.
8. Security Safeguards
Because your financial data resides on your physical phone, we recommend utilizing your device's native security features—including screen lock PINs, biometrics (fingerprint/face unlock), and full-disk device encryption—to protect your local information against unauthorized physical access.
